MEET HENRY NGUGI METHU
EARLY LIFE, NAIROBI & CREATIVE JOURNEY
Henry Ngugi Methu was born and raised in Nyandarua, Kenya. He attended Karoroha Primary School and Mwenda Andu High School before moving to Nairobi, where he works as a freelance writer and content creator.
He began writing at an early age. His work moves across fiction, articles, essays, poetry and research. He is drawn to the vivid textures of everyday Kenyan life—the humor, contradictions, struggles, culture, survival and memories that often exist beneath larger national narratives.
His published work includes “The Keeper of the Outer Shoals,” published in Space: Stories from the Rock by Engen Books, and “The Valley of Shadows and Light,” published in Creation Illustrated in 2026.
He is currently developing a novel exploring love, crime, obsession and the extraordinary lengths people may go in the name of love.
His long-term ambition is to become a prolific novelist, screenwriter and filmmaker whose work grows from Kenya and Africa and reaches a global audience.
